26.3% of adults 45+ yrs old have osteoporosis
43.3% of adults 45+ yrs old have low bone mass (osteopenia) – a precursor of osteoporosis

Most prevalent in Asians, Hispanics & White non-Hispanics
While African Americans have the lowest prevalence of osteoporosis, some studies show they have the highest osteoporosis severity. For example, African American women who sustain an osteoporotic fracture have one-third higher mortality than white women.
